# Settings & Personalization

Your account's preferences — identity, security, appearance, language, and (where available) branding — live on one **Settings** page. Open it from the sidebar or your account menu.

The page is a simple list: each row is one settings area with an icon, a title, and a short description. Clicking a row opens a dedicated modal for that action, with its own **Save** button. Nothing is applied until you save, and a toast notification confirms success or explains what went wrong — there are no lingering banners to dismiss.

| Row | What it covers |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Identity** | Username and email |
| **Security** | Change your password |

## Appearance

The Appearance modal covers two related concerns: how the interface looks, and basic accessibility accommodations.

**Theme** — choose Light, Dark, or System (follows your OS setting), with an icon-labelled picker.

**Accessibility** — three independent controls, each applied immediately across the whole app once saved:

| Setting | Options | Effect |
| ----------------- | ---------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Font size** | Default, Large, Larger | Scales the entire UI, not just text — everything sized in relative units grows with it |
| **High contrast** | On/Off | Increases border weight and darkens dimmed text for better readability |
| **Reduce motion** | On/Off | Shortens or removes UI transitions (modals, notifications, hover states) |

These preferences are saved to your account, so they follow you to any browser or device you log in from — not just stored locally. Note that **Reduce motion** applies to UI chrome only; it does not currently affect the smooth device-position animations on the live map.

## Localization

The Localization modal covers language and time display.

* **Language** — your interface language. AdaTrack currently supports English and Slovak.
* **Timezone** — the timezone every timestamp in the app is displayed in.

If you've never set a timezone, AdaTrack automatically detects it from your browser and uses that until you explicitly choose one — you don't need to configure anything to get correctly localized times from day one. An explicit choice you save always takes precedence over auto-detection.

### Timestamps Throughout the App

Once your timezone (and language) are resolved, every timestamp you see is formatted consistently against them — the live dashboard, the Alert Feed widget, audit logs, Travel Log trip details, reports, charts, and scheduled report emails. Date and time *shape* also follows your language: for example, English renders dates like a US-style short date, while Slovak uses a day-first format — you don't need to configure this separately from your language choice.

This works even before you log in: public and kiosk-mode dashboards resolve a timezone from the viewing browser, so embedded displays still show sensibly localized times with no account attached.
