# Billing & Subscriptions

AdaTrack offers flexible pricing plans designed to scale with your IoT fleet, from hobbyist projects to enterprise-grade deployments.

### Subscription Tiers

We offer three primary tiers to meet different needs:

| Tier         | Billing Type  | Ideal For                                                                      |
| ------------ | ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Free**     | $0 / Month    | Prototyping and small-scale personal projects.                                 |
| **Pro**      | Fixed Monthly | Small to medium fleets requiring predictable costs and higher resource limits. |
| **Flexible** | Pay-As-You-Go | Large-scale operations that need to scale resources up and down dynamically.   |

### How Billing Works

AdaTrack integrates with **Stripe** to provide secure, automated billing and subscription management.

#### 1. Fixed Billing (Pro Tier)

On a fixed plan, you pay a set monthly fee for a generous allocation of resources (Devices, Geofences, Reports). You are billed at the start of each billing cycle.

#### 2. Usage-Based Billing (Flexible Tier)

The Flexible tier consists of a low base monthly fee plus metered charges for your actual consumption. This is ideal for fleets where the number of active devices fluctuates. Metered resources include:

* **Active Devices:** Billed per device per month.
* **Data Processing:** Billed per MB or per 1,000 packets.
* **Workflow Executions:** Billed per 1,000 runs.
* **AI Tokens:** Billed per 1,000 tokens consumed by the AI Assistant plugin (chat and AI Analysis workflow nodes), above your plan's included monthly allotment.

### Managing your Subscription

You can manage your plan directly from the **Billing** section in your account settings:

* **Upgrade/Downgrade:** Switch between tiers at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately, while downgrades typically take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
* **Payment Methods:** Securely add or update your credit card and billing address via the Stripe Customer Portal.
* **Invoice History:** View and download your historical invoices and payment receipts.
* **Usage Summary:** Monitor your current resource consumption against your tier's limits in real-time. Usage charts (Workflow Executions, API Requests, Stats Query Executions, Report Generations, and AI Tokens) are scoped to your actual current billing cycle rather than a fixed 30-day window.

### Failed Payments

If a recurring payment fails:

1. AdaTrack will notify you via email.
2. Stripe will automatically retry the payment several times over the following days.
3. If the payment remains unpaid, your account may be downgraded to the **Free** tier, or access to certain features may be restricted until the balance is settled.

### Self-Hosted Billing

For **Self-Hosted** deployments, the Stripe billing module is disabled — there are no recurring SaaS charges. Instead, resource limits are managed through a one-time or annual **license key**. Self-hosted installations start as a free Community Edition, and paid licenses (Standard or Enterprise) can be purchased to unlock higher limits.
